The Rétromobile teams have put together a best-of list of not-to-be-missed events from the five days of the show.

Meetings to feed your passion

Rétromobile is a Mecca for enthusiasts of classic cars, but it's also an opportunity for enthusiasts from all horizons to meet the people who write the history of classic cars on a daily basis. The 2024 edition will be no exception to this rule, and a number of great names will be on hand to welcome the public. They include:

  • Sébastien Loeb: the nine-time world champion will be present on 31/01 from 15:30 to 16:30 on the FFSA stand to celebrate his 50th birthday.
  • Mark Wilsmore: founder of the Ace Cafe and an emblematic figure in the world of motorcycling, he will be on hand from 31/01 to 02/02 to chat with visitors over a cup of tea.
  • LucasParleF1: the motor sport influencer will be sharing his anecdotes from the Dakar Rally on 31/01 from 5.30pm to 6.00pm.
  • Magnus Walker: the famous British collector will be on site with Gerry Blyenberg for a special signing session on 02/02.
  • Ben Blake: the two-wheeled adventurer will be talking about his many road-trips and sharing his many travel anecdotes with the public on 03/02. 

Exhibitions to celebrate mechanical history MG

A look back at the history of the 'so british' manufacturer MG, a landmark in British motoring history, is celebrating its 100th anniversary!

To mark the occasion, Rétromobile, in partnership with the British Motor Museum and the MG Club de France, is organising a major retrospective exhibition featuring some of the brand's finest models: the 1925 Old MG Number One, the 1938 MG EX135, the record-breaking MG EX181... Another centenary will be celebrated at Rétromobile 2024: that of the UTAC Linas-Montlhéry Autodrome!

A major landmark in French motoring history, the circuit that holds so many records will also be hosting an exhibition dedicated to its history. Organised in collaboration with UTAC and the Vintage Revival Montlhéry association, the exhibition will feature over twenty vehicles, both pre-war and post-war, that have left their mark on the history and asphalt of this legendary venue.

The Monneret saga: two-wheelers, a family affair

Champions from father to son over many generations, the Monnerets have left their mark on the history of French motor sport. To pay tribute to them, the annual showcase of classic vehicles will be staging a dedicated exhibition in the heart of the new motorbike zone. For this occasion, visitors to Rétromobile will be able to discover more than twenty vehicles that accompanied this atypical family in their quest for records. The luckiest among you may even be able to meet Philippe Monneret, the youngest of the siblings and a multiple world champion, who will be on hand from 31 January to 4 February to tell the stories of his family.

Dakar Rally: the route of an all-terrain challenge

  The Dakar Rally is a legendary race that began in 1978 under the leadership of Thierry Sabine. Every year, several thousand competitors battle it out over thousands of kilometres. In 2024, Rétromobile is paying tribute to this monument of motorsport with a unique exhibition focusing on the vehicles and drivers who have left their mark on the history of the competition. But that's not all, as a number of adventurers who took part in the Dakar Rally will be present at Rétromobile to recount their adventures and anecdotes of all kinds. Among them: Jacky Ickx, Claude Marreau, Thierry de Montcorgé, Cyril Neveu and André Dessoude!

Once again this year, the most beautiful ephemeral garage dedicated to classic vehicles will be the stage for a host of events! In terms of dynamic demonstrations, the Musée des Blindés de Saumur and the Club des Teuf Teuf will be showing a Chaffee M24 tank and 8 pre-war Renault vehicles outside Pavilion 1.

Are you interested in buying a classic vehicle but don't know about the regulations in effect? Are you a collector who wants to find out more about restoration techniques and old-fashioned know-how? Don't miss the various workshops run by the FFVE and the EPV label! You'll be able to put this advice into practice once you've bought a classic vehicle, whether at one of Artcurial's auctions or after falling in love with one of our sales under €25,000! Lovers of old cars can take a good look at the resurrection of Mandarine, a charming 1967 FIAT 500F, at the Atelier Gazoline.
