Mazda Motor Corporation (MC) is an independent carmaker based in Hiroshima, Japan.
Mazda is present in over 130 countries and has 50,000 employees worldwide.
Founded in 1920 by Jyujiro Matsuda in Hiroshima, the Mazda company first produced corks, then in 1931, a utility tricycle named Mazda-Go.
The automotive business took off in 1962 with the launch of the R360 model. However, the brand became world-famous in 1967 with its revolutionary Cosmo Sport 110S rotary-engine coupé. In the 1970s, Mazda exports several million vehicles to the United States. The company established a long-term presence in the USA with the construction of a plant in Michigan in 1987.
By the end of the 1980s, total Mazda production had reached almost 20 million vehicles. Mazda becomes one of Japan's largest automakers. Since 2011, the arrival of SKYACTIV technologies has given rise to a new generation of products more precisely tailored to the requirements of European markets. Mazda continues to be part of a global dynamic, both on the old continent and worldwide.
In early 2019, Mazda launches a new generation of products and presents the first two models of this generation: the Mazda3 and the CX-30 crossover, completing the CX-3 and CX-5 carline. In 2022, Mazda launches the CX-60, the brand's first plug-in hybrid vehicle. The new model delivers a combined power output of 327 hp / 241 kW, making the CX-60 the most powerful model in the brand's history, with a 0 to 100 km/h time of 5.8 seconds. At the same time, this new model stands out for its efficiency, with a WLTP fuel consumption of 1.5 l/100 km in the combined cycle, and CO2 emissions of 33 g/km.
2024 also sees the arrival of the CX-80, the brand's new flagship. This 6- or 7-seater model, equipped with the same engine blocks as the CX-60, marks the brand's continuation of its premium trajectory and multi-solution approach.
