Lamborghini - Tribute to the Countach

A regular at the Paris show, the Sant'Agata-based manufacturer presents all the activities of its restoration department and the rebuilding of the first Countach, the LP 500.

Retromobile visitors are in luck. Lamborghini is exhibiting the reconstruction of the Countach LP 500. Marcello Gandini’s work, who was director of styling at Bertone back then, this unique prototype was the star of the March 1971 Geneva Motor Show.

Heralding the Countach that would replace the Miura, its angular and futuristic lines made a lasting impression. After three years of development, the LP 500 was unfortunately destroyed in a crash test before disappearing. It was not until late 2017 that an important collector customer of the brand questioned the Italian manufacturer about the achievability of rebuilding this important piece. A challenge that Polo Storico would take up.

Proof that nothing is impossible for this department, which is responsible for preserving and promoting the heritage of the Italian sports car brand bearing the bull's image. Its field of intervention is vast: partial or complete restoration of vehicles, from the 350 GT to the Diablo, rebuilding of spare parts, certification of models, promotion of activities at fairs and events.

In the absence of plans, Polo Storico collaborated with the styling center, which produced a full-scale model from the 3D scan of the first LP 400 chassis. The manufacturer Pirelli was particularly involved in this reconstruction, which required about 25,000 hours of labor.
